What we cover

The Daily Douglas is a real estate publication for readers with a decision in front of them. Most of our stories answer a practical question: who should I hire to help me buy my first home, when should I talk to a mortgage broker, how do I compete when a house draws several offers, and what is actually happening in my local market.

Our Real Estate News section includes reviews and rankings of local real estate agents, hiring guides for buyers and sellers, explainers on mortgages and first-time buyer programs, and reporting on the market changes that affect what a home costs.

How we report

When we write about real estate agents, we work from public sources: Zillow and Yelp profiles, brokerage pages, press releases, and the reviews that clients wrote themselves. We quote those reviews in the client's own words, we say where each number came from, and we date it, because ratings, review counts, and sales figures change often.

We do not accept payment for placement in an agent list, and agents cannot buy their way onto a ranking. If a profile or figure on one of our pages looks out of date, we want to hear about it and will correct the page.

Our articles are reporting and general information, not legal, tax, or financial advice. Talk to two or three agents before you choose one, ask any lender for a written Loan Estimate, and check each agent's public profile yourself before you sign anything.
